You may have heard (or, heh, realized), that it’s more difficult for women to lose fat than men. Immediately most people think it must be estrogen or hormonal issues. But perhaps the biggest factor is NOT hormones, but the simple fact that women are usually smaller and lighter than men.

When you have a smaller body, you have lower calorie needs. When you have lower calorie needs, your relative deficit (20%, 30% etc) gives you a smaller absolute deficit and therefore you lose fat more slowly than someone who is larger and can create a large deficit more easily.

Weight loss experts tell us that natural, healthy weight loss occurs at the rate of 2 to 2-1/2 pounds per week. This is the optimal rate in terms of health and nutrition. But there are times when a more rapid weight loss method is needed and there are several ways of achieving this.

One way is to take appetite suppresants and “Fat Burning” supplements. But these should not be taken for an extended period of time. Here are a few things that you will need, and need to know, before you embark on your calorie shifting diet cycle.

Mindset- The proper mindset is a vital component in the success of any endeavor, and that certainly includes fat loss. It’s a good idea to spend some time thinking of the benefits, to you, of losing weight. Stand in front of a mirror and imagine the image that you would like to see looking back at you. Write down your weight loss goals on a piece of paper and tape it to your refrigerator or other obvious place. Read it every morning and motivate yourself to have a good fat loss day.

My New Healthier Of Eating

After reading several reports and e-books about burning fat, I saw that I would have to change my eating habits in order feel better, have more energy and burn fat. Without going into a lot of technical stuff, I want to record here what I eat every day now and briefly, why. My diet is for basic weight loss at this point and is not nearly as rigid as it would be if I was trying to get “ripped abs”, or trying to be a bodybuilder. I lose  two to two and a half pounds of fat every week on this regimen.
