So what is “calorie shifting”?

Calorie shifting is a method of fat loss which has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. It is based on the premise that the metabolism can be “fooled” by eating from different food groups in a certain pattern. One meal may provide protein and fat only, the next may be almost exclusively carbohydrates.

This is certainly healthier than any diet which excludes a food group entirely, like the Atkins Diet. Though you may exclude carbohydrates in one meal and fat in the next, you still get a good overall balance.

Calorie shifting is becoming a well known term in the weight loss world. If you have heard about it or seen the term somewhere you may be wondering “So, what is calorie shifting anyway?” You may be searching for a quicker way to lose fat, or perhaps you read the term somewhere and you are just curious. Either way, here is a brief explanation.

Calorie shifting is a new breakthrough in fat loss research. Experts have found that your metabolism will adjust to the amount of calories you consume. When you embark on a fat loss program, your body will adapt to changing caloric intake levels, making it harder and harder to continue losing weight.

If you are planning to burn fat, it’s important to know that weight loss and fat loss are not exactly the same thing. In fact, there is a vital and essential difference between the two.

Weight loss is all of the weight that you lose when you begin a weight loss program. It includes fat, muscle tissue, and fluids. The fluids will return as your body becomes accustomed to the new regimen. The muscle tissue will not, and you can continue to lose muscle tissue as long as your caloric intake is below a certain level. This, of course, is not desirable.
